July 8-9 Bioterrorism: Mass Prophylaxis
Butler County Emergency Management Agency will be sponsoring the course, “Bioterrorism: Mass Prophylaxis Preparedness and Planning (MGT-201)”, July 8-9, 2008 at the Butler Tech Public Safety Education Center, 5140 Princeton Glendale Rd. (OH 747). The training will be delivered by the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC), Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), of Texas A&M. Attached is a information flyer for your use.

Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning
is over two-thirds filled with nine slots remaining. The course is being conducted by the University of Maryland. The April class is already filled; and I expect this one to be as well by mid-April, so if you are thinking about registering do not delay!

The course is scheduled for July 30, 2008. Training hours will be from 0800 to 1700 hours. The course is being delivered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness.

 ICS-300 & ICS-400

Cincinnati-Hamilton County Homeland Security is sponsoring the course, “National Incident Management System Training – ICS 300 & 400”. Six separate training sessions have been scheduled for both the ICS 300 & 400 courses beginning the week of July 28th and ending August 23rd . An unconventional training calendar has been created to allow for maximum flexibility.

Individuals attending will attend one day of the ICS 300 course and have two days off before completing the second day of training. This same scheduling method will be utilized for the ICS 400 courses as well. Note: Individuals must attend both days of the session for which they are scheduled. If a student is absent for day two of their session, they must reschedule for both days of a new session.

August 12-14 Emergency Response to Domestic Biological Incidents

Cincinnati-Hamilton County Homeland Security and the Cincinnati Police Department is sponsoring the course, “Emergency Response to Domestic Biological Incidents”. The course is scheduled for August 12-14, 2008. The course is being delivered by Louisiana State University, National Center for Biological Research & Training Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education.

The training will be conducted at the Cincinnati Police Academy, 800 Evans Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45204. There is no cost to attend this training. Attached is an informational flyer and registration form for your use.

August 19-20 Public Information in a WMD/Terrorism Incident
August 19-20, 2008 at the Regional Operation Center. The training is being conducted by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) which is part of the Texas A&M system. Attached is a information flyer provided by TEEX as well as a registration form for your use.

September  2-4 Preparedness & Response to Agricultural Terrorism

Back by popular demand!!! The agricultural terrorism course was so popular the first time around our good friends at the Warrant County Sheriff’s Office have offered to host the class September 2-4 at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, 550 Justice Drive, Lebanon, Ohio 45036.

September  5 Preparing Communities for Agroterrorism:
 Awareness Level

This is a six-hour course that will run from 0900 to 1500 hours; and will be conducted at the Warren County Administrative Building at 406 Justice Drive, Lebanon, Ohio 45036. All the training will be conducted by the Louisiana State University, National Center for Biological research and Training Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education.

Deadline to register for both courses is August 8.

September 9-10 Prevention & Deterrence of Terrorist Acts by Law Enforcement   (Train-the-Trainer)

This two-day course is scheduled for September 9-10 and will be conducted at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Patrol Academy, 11021 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Just so you know, the actual train-the-trainer segment is about 90 minutes long; and you will not have to actually get up and do a presentation. The majority of the training is the dissemination of up-to-date information regarding the domestic and international terrorist threat.

The training will be conducted by the Louisiana State University, National Center for Biological research and Training Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education. Maximum number of attendees is 30

 Registration deadline is August 8.

October 7-9 WMD Radiological/Nuclear Responder Training

The training will be conducted at the Cincinnati Fire Department Training Center, 700 Pete Rose Way (Longworth Hall), Cincinnati, Ohio 45203. The course is being delivered by the United States Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration’s Nevada Test Site. There is no cost to attend this training.
